Job Summary

The Data Analyst (DA) analyzes requests for data They are then responsible for the design and development of reports and queries using a variety of institutional files and tables including student admissions, student records, financial aid and course enrollments. The DA also oversees a Graduate Tracking Database from which reports regarding student success are generated. The DA performs data retrieval and analysis for the UGSand the Provost’s Office, performing complex data extraction and manipulation of institutional files/tables.

Collaborates with personnel university wide to accomplish various projects, taking into account the difference in business practices. The DA provides training and data support to graduate departments for the graduate application system and other reports. This position works across campuses and collaborates with other data collection staff, and is now located centrally in a new group that was formed for all campus data staff. This position supervises one undergraduate student.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field and two years of technical experience. Experience with database and information retrieval technology including tools such as SQL, Access, and Excel. Experience working with complex files/tables.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Thorough understanding of graduate education and related issues. Expertise in data capture and evaluation. Ability to interact successfully with a variety of individuals at all levels in the university and to establish priorities among their needs. Ability to quickly learn new technical tools as needed by various projects. Evidence of ability to collaborate with different units and departments.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Indiana data systems.
