Southridge School is a university preparatory day school located in south Surrey with 668 students enrolled in Kindergarten to Grade 12. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Data Base Manager. This position will provide database management expertise and guidance to employees on all aspects of major institutional applications that make up the student information systems, fund raising systems and accounting system. In addition, this position supports all the administration of other school databases including analyzing data and development of reports, extracts and interfaces between different applications and external systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the integrity, accuracy and support of the following Southridge databases by ensuring control measures are in place regarding access, security, and user support:
• Blackbaud including integration between Education Edge, Raisers Edge and Financial Edge modules
• Uniform Shop POS (Dynamics-Blackbaud )
• University Counselling /Student Course Selection (Naviance)
• Library Information System (Destiny)
• Food Services POS (Profitek)
• School Announcement

Integration with other databases:
• Website and Learning Management Systems
• External reporting from Blackbaud to the Ministry of Education database, regarding student marks and attendance

Technical User Support
• Provide technical support and assistance to database users to streamline efficiencies, ensure consistency and develop competency

Create and support on-line processes:
• On-line posting and tracking of electronic forms
• Support the current integration of Infosnap on-line application process with the Admissions module of Blackbaud to create a data driven admissions process
• Annual student re-enrolment process with an automated on-line process and tracking system

Research & Install
• Based on identified needs of the school proactively identify projects and research options, develop recommendations, create and document procedures and implement change
• As required design and develop custom reports, dashboards and pivot tables
• Email capability for regular student billing statements
• Email capability for other documents from Blackbaud

Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation
• Review of current databases to ensure compliance with CASL
• On-going monitoring of on-line activity to maintain compliance

Integration with IT department:
• Work/consult with the IT department with regards to maintaining data integrity and ensure proper integration with the school’s current systems.
• When necessary represent database user queries and requirements by working in partnership with the IT department to identify and create workable solutions
• Provide assistance with summer preparation for student laptop program

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor degree or diploma in computer field or equivalent experience and education
• Three years of database administration experience
• Demonstrated analytical ability and thorough knowledge of both the development process and database systems to effectively determine how best to manage information.
• Excellent use of spreadsheet applications and strong word processing skills and reporting tools such as crystal reports
• Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic
• Thorough knowledge of Google docs and Google mail
• Knowledge of the independent school system is an asset
• Thorough knowledge of Blackbaud, including Raiser’s Edge is an asset
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment and work with multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy
• Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions, and to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to fulfill responsibilities with high standards in customer service and support of school philosophy and mission
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of other employees, alumni students, parents, alumni parents, volunteers and the general public
• Strong interpersonal communications skills and the ability to work with end users to train on proper use of our software
• Ability to exercise judgement and discretion with confidential information
• Successful completion of a criminal record check is required
