Full Time - salary based on experience

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Development team a.  The Database Manager supports the work of The Bush School Office of Development and works collaboratively with the Communication, Business and Admissions Departments and the Lower, Middle and Upper School division directors and assistants. The position is responsible for the overall maintenance of the school’s donor database systems, data integrity, and their applications and operations by providing accurate and efficient management and reporting of donor and donor prospect activities on a day-to-day basis.

This database manager’s role is to ensure maximum efficiency and integrity of the information in the donor database; to provide on-going database and software needs analysis; to determine the best possible solutions for keeping the data accurate; and to create systems that offer maximum and appropriate utilization of available technology. In addition, this position will conduct and lead prospect research initiatives to not only ensure the integrity of our donor database, but also to assist the team in building relationships with our constituents.  This position reports to the Director of Development and requires a highly confidential and professional acumen.

A qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and tasks as listed below:

  • Complete timely gift processing, pledge reminders, write-offs and acknowledgement letters
  • Ensure stewardship protocols are executed by providing reports and information to the appropriate team members
  • Support the work of the Annual Fund, Campaign, and Alumnae/I programs with prospect research and thorough and donor profiles; update donor records in an efficient and timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with the Business Office to produce accurate and timely monthly and quarterly bank reports, reconciliations, industry benchmark reports and analyses as requested
  • Monitor Raiser’s Edge websites and other communications to maintain current knowledge of the software and its use
  • Work with Technology personnel to plan and implement database updates by reviewing Raiser’s Edge software updates and patches and approving them for Technology, as needed
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Development, Communications, and Technology in regard to the database and web based programs, including giving portals and processing
  • Produce lists for fundraising, specials events and school publications
  • Create and maintain systems for donor tracking and prospect research, and identification
  • Create and maintain gift, campaign, and alum special reports, event tracking systems, volunteer tracking systems and produce statistical reports as required
  • Create clear reports based on the needs of the team member to support strategy and program
  • Manage, generate, and supply accurate constituent lists to a variety of departments, and for a variety of publications
  • Establish and maintain user protocols, enhancements and training programs for new and current employees school wide

Successful candidates will have:

  • 3-5 years of experience with The Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud certified a plus, or with another donor database
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Creative problem-solver and strategic and organized thinker
  • A highly developed understanding of database systems; expertise in relational database queries, import/export and reporting function
  • Full working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, mail merges, and other standard software applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong process, planning, and implementation skills
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization abilities
  • Team player, self-motivated, attentive to detail, and able to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong customer service orientation
