The Database Manager leads The Hillside School’s efforts to increase the operationalization and functionality of the Veracross database system across the school.    The Database Manager is an integral part of the Leadership Team and must fully embrace and promote the vision and mission of The Hillside School.  The Database Manager reports to The Head of School.


  • Coordinates database activities, oversees strategic plan for database utilization and optimization, and manages vendor relations involving database work

  • Assists with day to day maintenance of Veracross systems

    • Work with Admission Office (Admission Module, Enrollment, Re-Enrollment)

    • Work with Main Office (transcripts, calendar, constituent data, schedules, rosters)

    • Work with Development Office (Development Module, Gift Entry, Reporting, & Alumni) 

  • Conduct routine Maintenance in Veracross (examples: user accounts, yearly rollover, creating/updating lists, import/export of data)

  • Manages training for internal database/portal use and management of data

  • Maintains and manages Hillside user security for purpose of ensuring security and data integrity

  • Trains and supports teachers, parents, and Board of Trustees in the use of the Teacher/Student/Parent/BOT portals  

  • Extracts required information from the database and assists staff in running queries, lists, and reports

  • Maintains database analysis/integrity project (cleanse, update, maintain)

  • Manages Veracross communications distributed though the Veracross Composer system originating from admission and/or development

  • Trains end users in access, security, use, and customization of workspace

  • Responds to problems in workflow or business needs with strategies and potential solutions

  • Continues personal training to expand and maintain knowledge of features necessary to ensure Veracross can resolve a range of issues that Hillside can incur

  • Help Desk

    • Resolves issues in conference with other team members that may fall under the scope of duties

    • Provides 24/7 support for critical technology needs and emergencies


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong Data Management Skills

  • Knowledge of Veracross or any School Information Management System a plus

  • Ability to use initiative and work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve

  • Highly analytical with attention to detail
