The Ethel Walker School has an opening for a Database Manager in our Advancement department. This position requires a deep understanding and proficiencies with the Raiser’s Edge platform. The Database Manager coordinates and synthesizes information from multiple sources, supervises the Gift Entry Coordinator and ensures best practices in gift processing and data management. This person will also provide reporting and analysis so that strategic business decisions can be made and assist with data pertaining to campaign planning.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

  • Serve as Raiser's Edge Systems Administrator and supervises the Gift Entry Coordinator and seasonal staff to assure accurate and timely processing of gifts, pledges, pledge reminders, payments, acknowledgement letters and gift receipts. Recommend coding and business rules that capture information for donor analysis and action. Ensure accurate transfer of records among different database systems - Raiser’s Edge, NXT, Veracross, and various research sources. Stay current with Blackbaud product updates and attend annual conferences. (20% time)

  • Maintain precise gift records, working closely with DOD and Assistant Head for Advancement. Provide expert gift accounting support to gift officers working with donor gift records, in support of proactive donor stewardship. Generate tax-year end gift statements for top 200 donors.

  • Working with DOD and Assistant Head for Advancement and the CFO establish gift recording protocols that support Walker’s future capital campaign.

  • Develop complicated charts, reports, and queries to provide deep analyses of program and campaign results and to plan for segmentation in appeals. (15%)

  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy, as well as handle all global changes, imports and other global database functions. Ensure that the database provides the required information for planning and reporting and is used to its fullest capacity. Develop and produce AFFW comparison reports, Annual Report lists, DASL reporting, and other reports as required. (5% time)

  • Provide training, as necessary, to new and existing staff members to ensure correct procedures are followed for Raiser's Edge entry. (5% time)

  • Serve as the liaison with Walker’s Business Office for monthly reconciliation and annual budgeting. Develop and document annual giving and database policies and procedures. Assist in the completion of the annual reporting for audit, DASL and Annual Report. (15% time)

  • Provide excellent customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers: donors, volunteers and staff. (5% time)

  • Recommend research and collaborate with Advancement Staff to maximize use of the Raiser’s Edge database systems to further develop annual giving initiatives such as the monthly sustainer giving program and event management. Research the consolidation of communications platforms for fundraising.  Complete email communication merges for external communications. (10% time)

  • Maximize Corporate Matching Gift (CMG) donor information from third party aggregators including Truist, Benevity, and YourCause, and upload donor information into Raiser's Edge. Ensure all CMG donors (direct and third party) are entered into Raiser's Edge, tracked, acknowledged and reported accurately. (5% time)

  • As a member of the Advancement Team, assist with all events as needed. (5% time)

  • Maintain a portfolio of donors to cultivate and annually solicit to meet the Annual Fund for Walker’s goal. (10% time)

  • Engage, cultivate, enthuse and solicit two or more Reunion classes including ongoing correspondence, Zoom meetings, and other methods to draw them back to campus. (5% time)

  • Other duties as assigned (5%).

 

 

Competencies:

  • Customer service mentality focusing on service and problem solving

  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge Enterprise and NXT.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, mail merges and the Google Suite required.

  • Knowledge of Veracross preferred.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Curiosity and interest in exploring technology that will benefit the Advancement efforts, and willingness to receive training pertinent to the job.

  • Ability to multi-task, work in a fast-paced office and manage multiple priorities and deadlines with accuracy.

  • Understanding of donor/development relationship; ability to communicate with Board and donors; ability to work within a team.

  • Strong and effective communication skills a must.

  • Undergraduate degree required.
