Burke's is seeking a highly motivated Database Manager who will manage our Student Information System (SIS), Learning Management System (LMS) and other school systems. This position will also support managing student data across multiple systems while performing registrar and rostering duties. The successful candidate will possess exceptional analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and have strong SIS expertise. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Blackbaud platform management

  • Manage the Blackbaud Student Information System (SIS) and Learning Management System (LMS), ensure that the systems’ capabilities are fully utilized in addressing the school divisions’ needs.
  • Assist school divisions with setting up Blackbaud tools, data import/export, scheduling calendars and reports.
  • Assist with updating courses and grading setup, report cards, transcripts, course rosters and other academics data.
  • Manage user accounts, conduct onboarding/offboarding, create and update employee, student and parent records.
  • Process annual roll over and other yearly procedures.
  • Proactively communicate with school divisions and departments to plan and manage deadlines for Blackbaud-involved projects.

System Integration and Support

  • Collaborate with school stakeholders to oversee integrations and data sharing among all of the school's databases to leverage available technology, eliminate duplicate efforts, and improve user experience.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving database-related issues promptly.
  • Organize and manage stakeholder study projects for evaluation and selection of new database systems.

Data Risk Management

  • Assist with implementing and enforcing data security measures, including user access control and disaster recovery plans.
  • Conduct regular system audits and ensure the data integrity of student information across all school systems.
  • Ensure the school departments follow best practices for managing student records and school data.

Training and Documentation

  • Examine User Experiences of students, teachers, and parents, and provide support and training for the improved use of the SIS/LMS.
  • Design and present group training sessions for new systems onboarding. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the school's database systems, including user manuals, maps, data governance policies and troubleshooting guides.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Collaborate with school departments to understand their data needs and assist with developing custom reports and queries.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Generate accurate and timely reports for administrators, faculty, and staff as required.

Professional Skills & Experience

Required

  • Experience administering and supporting critical operational workflows for school-based applications (e.g., student information, email, and device management systems). 
  • Experience developing user-friendly training and support materials for diverse audiences, providing user support through screencasts and tutorials. 
  • Project Management experience.

Preferred

  • Extensive experience with Blackbaud. 
  • Previous experience as Database Manager at a school.
  • Experience with technology deployment, student rostering, as well as with IT and academic processes in an independent school environment. 
  • Knowledge of popular educational software, Apple devices and Google Workspace.

Compensation
