The Forman School (www.formanschool.org), a coeducational college preparatory boarding and day school serving 215 students, seeks an Education Database Specialist. The school, founded in 1930 and located in Litchfield, CT, a beautiful New England village approximately a half hour outside of Hartford, serves bright students with learning differences.

The boarding school environment requires a suite of databases to manage students grades, health, and activities.  Forman School employs a number of databases to ensure that our students and progress and status on all these fronts is tracked efficiently.

This job requires the individual to maintain a suite of education focused databases integral to daily life at Forman. The EDS will support students, parents, and faculty.

Reports to Director of Information Technology

 

Job Duties:

  • Support end users in use of SIS and LMS. Senior Systems and Finalsite experience would be ideal.
  • Creates and implements a yearly plan for import of student, parents, and faculty data.
  • Creates data exports for each in house system currently utilized and imports data into each system respectively.
  • Maintains flowcharts of databases and processes. Calendarise key dates so that grade reports and other time sensitive reports are produced in a timely manner.
  • Maintains database performance by implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products.
  • Prepares users by conducting training; providing information; resolving problems.
  • Provides information by answering questions and requests.
  • Must be proficient in working with all type of delimited data.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Database Administrator Skills and Qualifications:

Must have strong knowledge of excel including exports formats, filtering, and advanced sorting. Must have a 2 - 3 years experience in a related field.

Experience in these databases a plus.
