Under the coordinated supervision of the Computing Support Manager of the Center for Digital Humanities, the Manager of the Royce Humanities Group, and the Manager of the Center for 17th and 18th Century Studies/Clark Library, the Department Technical Analyst (DTA) provides day-to-day instructional and user computer support for faculty, staff and graduate students of Royce Humanities, the Center for 17th and 18th Century Studies, and the Clark Library. The Clark Library is an off-campus location, and this position requires the DTA to have their own means of transport to facilitate occasional visits to the Clark. Responsibilities include maintaining, upgrading, and troubleshooting departmental computer systems hardware and software; providing basic user training; planning and accommodating for changes in technology and evolving user needs and requirements; coordinating and working together with other CDH technical staff to resolve complex technical problems involving the Humanities network; maintaining email systems, mailing lists, and the departmental websites; providing A/V support for departmental events; other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated detailed knowledge of the Microsoft suite of desktop operating systems including Windows 7, 8, 10, and Macintosh OS X. Demonstrated detailed knowledge of PC and Mac hardware and peripherals to perform diagnostics and repair.

Demonstrated detailed knowledge of a wide range of commonly used software products to troubleshoot issues and give training in their use.

Demonstrated detailed knowledge of network communication protocols and LAN technology to perform network diagnostics and repair client-side problems.

Experience with support ticket systems, e.g., Freshdesk, Zendesk, Service Now.

Demonstrated knowledge of Audio/Visual equipment setup and usage including monitors, projectors, video recording devices, microphones, and their integration with web meeting tools.
