University Child Development School (UCDS) in Seattle is partnering with educational leaders in Mumbai to open a new school; the Ascend International School of India.  The curricula and teaching philosophies at Ascend International are based on the UCDS model.

 

Ascend International School, a newly established progressive school in Mumbai, India, is currently searching for a Design and Technology Specialist Teacher for Primary and Middle School.

 

Do you love to tinker and build? Are you fascinated with digital storytelling? Do you think experimenting with Arduinos or a Raspberry Pi is a great educational experience? If you are excited to build an educational program around technology and design from the ground up—Ascend International School is looking for you! Our kids love to invent, create and explore new technologies. We’re looking for a Technology and Design Specialist that would be excited to work collaboratively with other specialists and classroom teachers to design projects that incorporate various areas of classroom study and excite children’s interest in creating working solutions for real world problems. The Design and Technology Specialist should be passionate about looking at technology through a design and engineering lens. He or she will be expected to generate high level, interactive and creative curricula not typically associated with primary schools.

 

The Educational philosophy at Ascend International School is inspired by University Child Development School in Seattle, Washington.  The school is accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) for its Primary Years Program (PYP.) The middle school is inspired by PBL and is currently in the accreditation process for the IB Middle Years Program (MYP.) Candidates should be interested in cultivating deep cross-cultural collaborations, individualizing instruction in multi-age classrooms and developing innovative curricula.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and/or experience in design, engineering or comparable degree
Instructional experience
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Curricula planning experience
Experience working students ages 3-16
Knowledge of concepts such as: maker movement, 3-D printing, manufacturing techniques, CAD, simulation software, coding experience
 

Teaching positions begin July 2016. Travel and relocation stipends are provided, on-site and off-site apartments are available, and salary and benefit packages are commensurate with international school compensation.
