Salary 
The targeted salary may be set as high as $4,625 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,470 to $6,681 per month.

Position Description 
The Desktop Support Specialist provides support services for users in the Divisions of Information Technology, Administration and Finance, Athletics, and the President's Office, and Athletics. Configures and deploys desktop PCs and software to end users. Provides systems support for network resources. Maintains a library of documentation and an inventory of assets. Maintains library of documentation and inventory of assets. Tests and evaluates desktops and software. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to provide support for Windows 7, 8, and 10 desktop operating systems. Ability to configure and deploy Mac OS desktops and laptops. Ability to set up and configure Windows Server 2008 and 2012 OS. Knowledge of virtual technology such as VMWare and Hyper-V.

  • Ability to install and maintain Windows workstations, configure Windows file and print services, provide desktop support, write technical documentation, implementation plans, and end-user procedures, install and optimize network access clients, DHCP services, and interface adapters, and install and configure e-mail clients, Internet browsers, and productivity software. Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.

  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, Communications, or related technical field required.

  • Two years of related experience preferred.

Licenses / Certificates 
CA Driver's License, Class C
