Garrison Forest seeks a Desktop Support Technician to work as part of the Technology Department to provide practical user service and support to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hardware, software, and peripheral problems. The Desktop Support Technician provides installation of hardware and software applications. They are knowledgeable about network devices, switches, routers, patch cables, servers, administrative stations, network closet wiring and installation procedures. Willingness to function as a member of a team is crucial. This position supports 700+ devices for approximately 850+ students, faculty and staff.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

- Excellent oral and written communications.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with users of varying degrees of computer savvy and age groups including students, faculty, senior management.
- Assistance with or coordination of implementation of OS updates, software upgrades or installs, security patches, clean/remove malware.
- Setup for new hires: configure desktop/laptops, printer access, email, and educate new users on IT processes.
- Installation and repair of operating system and applications on desktop, laptops.
- Support, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware, software and OS problems.
- Carefully document processes and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

- 1-2 years previous experience supporting desktop and network operating systems, desktop, laptop.
- CompTIA A+ Certification.
- Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent related work experience.
- Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting expertise (including Windows, Apple and IOS devices).
- Ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
- Self-motivated and directed, with the ability to prioritize effectively and execute tasks.
- Working knowledge of current client and server software including:
- Windows Server 2003 R2 or higher
- Windows 7 or higher
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Network protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Imaging technologies (WDS)
- Anti-virus
- Microsoft Office 2007+
- Basic working knowledge of network infrastructure hardware including:
- Managed switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points
- Network Storage Devices
