Position Summary

The Development Specialist and Data Manager is an integral part of the Development Office with primary responsibility for the financial database. This individual will report to the Director of Development and is responsible for gift processing, data management, reporting and analysis, campaign logistics, and donor/prospect research.

 

Reports to: Director of Development

 

Essential Functions

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Data & Database Management

  • Leads daily operation of Raiser’s Edge database, accurate donor record keeping, gift entry, processing, acknowledgement, reporting and reconciliation with Business Office.  

 

  • Participates in the design and process of documentation for database procedures and provides training to other staff members to ensure the processes are implemented.

 

  • Works with IT and the school’s Student Database Specialist to lead Raiser’s Edge data clean-up initiatives.

 

Reporting & Analysis

  • Provides weekly and interim data reports on dollars and participation tracking progress against Annual Fund and Campaign goals.

 

  • Creates queries, donor profiles, dashboards, requests for crystal reports, custom reports, and mailing lists to support department(s) goals.

 

  • Conducts extensive and independent data analysis to make strategic and tactical recommendations around prospecting and targeting, measures ROI on different campaigns and builds annual planning report.

 

  • Assists with the development of protocols for an increase of efficiency and overall improvement of business practices.

 

  • Manages Development Office budget reconciliation and office expense management.

 

 

Annual Giving, Campaign Support, & Events

  • Provides administrative support to Annual Giving, Capital Giving, and Events.

 

  • Manages acknowledgements and receipting process for all gifts including pledges.

 

  • Works closely with the Annual Giving Manager to create and track call sheets for class agents and phone-a-thons.

 

  • Participate in event execution with primary responsibility for mailings, volunteer management, and database tracking.

 

Moves Management & Contact Reports

  • Assists with the design and implementation of moves management, proposal management, and prospect tracking system in Raiser’s Edge to record, monitor, and measure related fundraising activities.

 

  • Responsible for contact report management including drafting, and editing contact reports for solicitor visits with donors, maintaining proposals and gift agreements in prospect and maintaining regular actions entries.

 

Donor / Prospect Research

  • Support fundraising efforts by identifying, researching, rating, and providing detailed profiles on prospective constituents using on-line databases and other sources of information.

 

  • Research new and existing donors and prospects for major gift cultivation and solicitation through review and strategic analysis of media, financial documents, databases, online wealth indicating information systems and other resources.

 

Position Requirements

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree required

 

Experience: Three years or more Development experience in database management with Raiser’s Edge

 

Preferred: Experience in a school or non-profit environment

 

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel Spreadsheets
