Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is seeking an experienced Digital Media Manager. Located in West Los Angeles, Brentwood School was founded in 1972 as a co-educational college preparatory middle and high school, and has expanded to be a well-respected K-12 independent school. Brentwood School occupies two campuses. The Lower School includes Grades K-6 and occupies a 3.5 acre campus located at 12001 Sunset Boulevard, while the Middle and Upper Schools share a 30-acre campus located at 100 S. Barrington Place. The school serves just under 1,000 students and their families.

 

The primary role of the Digital Media Manager is to act as the online media and data integration specialist for the school, specifically serving the needs of the Communications Department as it furthers the overall brand and mission of the school. The Digital Media Manager will also serve as the main liaison to the Systems Technology Department and to our web provider, Finalsite, and will be the primary point of contact for our current parents, alumni, and prospective parents for all customer support needs. The Digital Media Manager will be the official curator of the school's digital identity on the web, managing our social media presence and manifesting SEO. The Digital Media Manager will attend Advancement, Communications, and Systems Technology Department staff meetings.

The Digital Media Manager is responsible for the following tasks:

Website

 

Content—

  1. Under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Communications, manage content for the external website and the intranet (Eagle Eye) within the Finalsite Composer content management system (CMS), to effectively disseminate messaging, both verbal and visual, as it promotes the school's mission through an online presence.
  2. Work with the Director and Assistant Director of Communications and a variety of content providers within the school community to build pages that represent all facets of school life, including admissions, athletics, and advancement.
  3. Create and maintain a consistent visual identity through the appropriate use of fonts, formatting, icons, images, and layout techniques, including maintenance of templates and image archives.
  4. Provide support to Alumni Relations and the Athletics Department in the areas of content gathering, social media, and news distribution to key constituents.
  5. Integrate multimedia assets and applications into the site through a variety of modules within the CMS.
  6. Manage event ticketing for all major school events and provide reports to the Data Administrator for financial reconciling.
  7. Create web forms and provide data reports as required.
  8. Ensure timely updates to electronic message boards and all digital signage on both campuses.

Technical Support—

  1. Responsible for the current and prospective parent, as well as alumni, experience on the website, assuring that all webmaster customer support emails and inquiries receive an appropriate response and solutions are provided in a timely manner.
  2. Work collaboratively with Systems Technology Department to resolve issues that arise with data integrity, exports between systems, integrations, and other related areas as they affect online directories and distribution of emails to constituents.
  3. Manage web-­related technical support needs with Finalsite and other related systems (Blackbaud, Schoology), including coordination of database integration in partnership with the school's Systems Technology Department.
  4. Diagnose and fix website issues as they arise, submitting work orders to Finalsite and working with their tech support teams as needed.
  5. Provide training and support, as appropriate, to faculty, staff, and other constituents on the use of web-based communication tools.

Analytics—

  1. Develop framework for analyzing social media, website, and email statistics and provide regular reports to the Director of Communications.
  2. Monitor email bounce backs and work with Database Administrators to ensure data integrity across all platforms.

Social Media

  1. Publish audience-centric content for all social media channels.
  2. Establish and execute marketing plan to dramatically increase followers.
  3. Coordinate all social media community contributors throughout the school community (i.e. Library, Athletics, Alumni).

Assets

  1. Manage existing image and video archives.
  2. Solicit and organize incoming images from parent, faculty/staff, and student content generators in the community (i.e. The Nest)
  3. Determine guidelines for content (image/video size, quality, parameters for uploading to a server, etc.)
  4. Provide photo and video services on an as needed basis.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • A strategic and curious mind and an ability to see potential uses for new technology.
  • Conceptual understanding of data-driven web environments and trends in mobile devices.
  • Demonstrated experience working strategically with social media and using appropriate tools and metrics to measure its effectiveness.
  • Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and work effectively under constant pressure of deadlines.
  • Experience with Finalsite, Silverpoint, WhippleHill, or similar content management systems a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing audio and video for the web.
  • Experience with Blackbaud products or other similar databases a plus.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Java, ASP and similar programming languages
  • Photography and videography skills a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree or beyond.

This is an exempt position, which will require flexibility as dictated by departmental based business cycles and unanticipated issues. There will be days that will require more than 8 hours of work, and some work weeks requiring more than five days.
