Overview
Spence’s Academic Technology Department seeks an accomplished educator to build on its excellence, and guide us towards future possibilities. This position, reporting to the Academic Dean and the Director of Teaching and Learning and Educational Partnerships, represents an opportunity to lead the K-12 department in refining its mission, and working with an outstanding caliber of colleagues and students.
 
Responsibilities

Institutional Leadership

  • Works with the school’s Academic Leadership and faculty to define, develop and shape Spence’s K-12 academic technology program
  • Provides leadership in the evaluation, selection and implementation of instructional technology hardware, software, and learning methods
  • Collaborates with Director of Information Technology to ensure current and potential curricular technology implementations can be supported and maintained by Spence’s IT infrastructure and support staff
  • Demonstrates model instructional practices that utilize technology effectively, to inspire curriculum and teaching
  • Works with teachers to identify opportunities for the effective integration of technology into specific lessons or projects, and supports the teachers as they implement the lessons in their classrooms
  • Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain contemporary knowledge and expertise in the fields of emerging technologies, curriculum design, and pedagogies relevant to the instructional uses of technology
  • Develops and provides individual and group instruction with faculty and students in the use of various instructional technologies including G-Suite applications, Blackbaud onCampus LMS and onRecord SIS, iPads, and any other relevant hardware or software
  • Collaborates with faculty on professional development opportunities, policies, and grants relevant to academic technology
  • Manages the Academic Technology budgets for academic hardware/software purchases as well as colleagues’ professional development
Instructional Leadership
  • Supervises and mentors technology integrators, including their professional development, goal-setting and evaluations, serving as an intellectual and teaching resource
Teaching
  • To be determined, based on experience and need
  • Serves as advisor to students in Middle School or Upper School

  • Demonstrates commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Shows an appreciation for the craft of teaching, along with a passion for and knowledge of K-12 Academic Technology
  • Committed to leading and supporting teachers’ ongoing professional development
  • Possesses or shows promise of successful leadership experience
  • Has led development and implementation of innovative program design
  • Has at least five years of teaching experience
  • Advanced degree in Educational Technology or equivalent experience
