Tenacre Country Day School is seeking a Director of Design Technology to begin by August  2023. Tenacre’s mission is to nurture and challenge each child, every day. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, master’s degree preferred

  • Three to five years of instruction in elementary and middle grade technology skills and/or STEM instruction

  • Experience working with the tools and equipment of a maker space

  • Proven interdisciplinary curriculum development experience and interest

  • Proven management, planning, and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects and to meet established goals within specified time frames

  • Strong interpersonal skills that encourage effective collaboration and quality relationships with a wide variety of teachers and students

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to further develop a curriculum that teaches students to create, make, innovate, build, and design

  • Establish a culture of problem-solving by encouraging students to find solutions through tinkering and iterative processes

  • Coordinate units of study with educational technology specialists and teachers across disciplines

  • Collaborate with staff members to integrate Design Thinking principles into curricula and develop cross-curricular units of study

  • Provide inspiration and support for faculty and students in developing and implementing new innovative learning opportunities

  • Establish relationships with people and organizations outside of Tenacre to collaborate and form partnerships

  • Work in partnership with Tenacre’s After-School and Camp directors to create curricula for their programs

  • Contribute to the design and construction of a new maker space classroom and a technology and design building 

  • Maintain space, tools, and materials of new facility
