We are seeking a Full Time, Director of Education Technology to join our Wentworth Campus (Junior School: JK - Grade 7). This position will start late August for the 2019/2020 school year. 
 
Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with the Director of IT to ensure that the technology needs for the junior school are met.

  • Plan, develop and teach technology related classes, in collaboration with homeroom teachers.

  • Prepare and deliver lesson plans and interactive learning activities that follow BC curriculum standards.

  • Conduct formal and informal assessment of students, including report cards, progress reports and marking.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of a Digital Citizenship curriculum.  

  • Establish a learning environment and culture which encourages creative and independent use of instructional technology. Use learning technologies to help facilitate design learning and computational thinking.

  • Research new technology, software and hardware solutions that would be effective in achieving the school’s instructional technology vision.

  • Assist teachers with the integration of technology in their classrooms.

  • Provide A/V support for weekly Assemblies

  • Participate in technology related professional development opportunities.

  • Assess and report on all aspects of technology related to educational goals of the junior school.

  • Serve as a mentor to junior school teachers and staff for technology use.

  • Attend grade level and department meetings to assess and plan curriculum.

  • Work with Information Technology to provide oversight of student and teacher iPads, chrome books, and laptops 

  • Coordinate student technology clubs and independent study in technology.

  • Communicate the technology strategy to Junior School staff, students and parents.  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education.

  • British Columbia Teacher Certification.

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated teaching experience at the elementary level (variety of ages and subjects).

  • In depth knowledge of BC Curriculum (K-7) and proven experience implementing competency based learning goals in the classroom.

  • 3 years in a leadership role in education. Experience working in a supportive manner with a variety of stakeholders is an asset. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing technology to foster and enhance the design learning and computational thinking processes.

  • Masters in Education and/or related field an asset.
