The Director of Educational Technology oversees the deployment of technology in the effective operation of the school and in support of teaching and learning. The Director of Educational Technology manages the daily use of technology and plans its strategic, long-term use in a manner consistent with Tallulah Falls School’s philosophy and mission statement. The Director of Educational Technology plays a major role in overseeing all facets of technology planning, implementation, integration, and maintenance at the school.

Major Responsibilities

Provide leadership, vision, and day-­to-­day management of the IT department
Develop and implement a technology plan for the school, including identifying specific hardware and software application needs for students, staff and faculty
Develop and maintain the school's internal and external networks
Maintain effective delegation of responsibilities and project management to ensure technology staff can successfully meet school’s IT needs
Work with the Leadership and Academic Team to develop and implement training and instructional programs for students and faculty to allow for the successful use of technology in the classroom
Manage all financial aspects of technology activities, including preparation of the annual operating budget, ongoing review of financial operations, purchase and disposal of technology assets and resources, maintenance of technology inventories, and long-term financial planning for technology replacement, repair and special maintenance
Maintain an active role in the local and state-wide technology community, with particular emphasis on participation in technology conferences
Develop strategic and long range planning for technology initiatives
Develop and facilitate professional development for faculty and staff
Ensure optimal use of technology resources among school departments in support of achieving overall school objectives
Consult with administrators and teachers to define equipment and training needs
Review and approve all system technology purchases to assure compatibility
Coordinate, evaluate, and recommend hardware and software purchases and replacement
Manage vendor relationships, including contracts, maintenance, hardware and software upgrades, and ongoing development work with the system and users
Coordinate the activities and evaluate the job performances of the Technology Department staff

Qualifications

A master’s degree in an appropriate field is preferred
At least 5 years’ experience in technology-related work, preferably academic technology
Demonstrated understanding of instructional technology hardware, software, and related classroom tools
Experience working with teachers in all disciplines to identify instructional needs and the various technologies to enable/enhance instruction
Fluency and comfort with Google Apps for Education
Fluency and comfort with both PC and Macintosh operating systems
Confident and effective written and verbal communicator
Strong organizational skills and ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and follow through
Ability to incorporate feedback to improve job performance
Knowledge of information technology, systems management, as well as network development and management
