Description:

The University of Pikeville is actively seeking a dynamic and committed professional to serve in the role of Director of Information and Technology Services. This position will serve to direct and lead the Information and Technology Services (IT) department, as well as operate and maintain computing and telecommunication facilities, services, and equipment to meet the academic and administrative needs of the University of Pikeville. This position may be considered for an Assistant Vice President for IT, based on leadership skills and work experience of the candidates.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership, vision, and direction to the IT department.

  2. Ensure the effective integration of IT into the University’s Strategic Action Plan.

  3. Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff to assess and meet campus IT needs.

  4. Develop and administer the department budget.

  5. Supervise the development of an effective IT help desk to provide timely and efficient assistance to students and college employees on hardware and software issues.

  6. Identify emerging technologies and supervise the development and implementation of new applications.

  7. Supervise the IT processes to protect the integrity and operation of the campus network.

  8. Develop, review, and certify all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.

  9. Develop and control the security and privacy of the university’s information systems.

  10. Oversee IT aspects of all new construction and renovation projects.

  11. Other duties as assigned.

Relationships:

Position requires daily contact with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students in order to exchange information and generate work flow.  These relationships are maintained through e-mail and text messages, telephone and person-to-person contact.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, is required.

  • Must have significant management and leadership skills.

  • Must have documented work experience with Microsoft Windows Environments, including MS-SQL and Microsoft Exchange, Internet Information Server and other applications associated with higher education.

  • Previous experience with Datatel is preferred.
