Summary/Objective:

Oxbridge Academy, an independent, non-profit, grades 9-12 school in West Palm Beach, FL, seeks an outstanding IT professional to improve and innovate on technological experiences and outcomes across the school. The IT Director is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation, and support of IT systems that fulfill the school's needs in core areas, including teaching and learning, student life, security, and administrative operations. The IT director will administrate the full life cycle of technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations, and IT service support to achieve this.  The Director is also responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of all third-party and internally managed IT infrastructure to support all processes across the school.

The successful candidate will possess superb technical skills, strong project management acumen, excellent vendor management skills, and a superior, service-oriented approach to all IT operations.   Having a passion for education and technology are hallmarks of this position.    

Reports To:  Chief Financial Officer

Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with the academic and administrative leadership to establish an IT strategic plan, nested within the overall technology plan, that supports the school's mission
  • Manage all IT activities and resources, including personnel, infrastructure, software and hardware deployment, academic and administrative systems
  • Develop and control the annual operating and capital expenditure budget for IT to ensure it is consistent with the school's overall strategic objectives
  • Manage a full-time staff, supervise their work, and grow their capabilities.
  • Provide and maintain a high-quality support environment for all students, faculty, and staff
  • Facilitate the development of best-of-class classroom and virtual educational technology solutions in collaboration with academic leadership
  • Research, prepare, and present recommendations to leadership for improvement and/or replacement of major infrastructure, systems, and processes
  • Ensure high availability of critical technologies, including:
    • VMware server cluster
    • Veeam Backup & Replication
    • Palo Alto Networks NGFW
    • Cisco and Cisco Meraki switching and wireless
    • Office 365
    • Microsoft AD/Azure AD
    • JAMF MDM
    • IP video conferencing and telephony solutions

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in:
    • macOS and the deployment and management of Apple devices and applications using the JAMF Pro MDM platform
    • Windows Server and Windows 10
    • Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
    • Office 365 Suite including Exchange Online and Azure AD
    • Server virtualization with VMware and Dell vSAN
    • Networking protocols including DHCP, DNS, routing, and switching
    • Systems monitoring tools, including SolarWinds NPM
  • Experienced in project management

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in and in-depth knowledge of K-12 and/or higher-ed educational environments
  • Network and process automation using RedHat Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Node-RED
  • Extensive knowledge of Rest API integration

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's or advanced degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or related field desired
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an IT role with consistent progression of responsibility
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a K-12 or higher education environment preferred
  • Technical certifications from Cisco and Palo Alto preferred (CCNA and PCNSA or higher)
