The Director of Information Technology of Fryeburg Academy, a key administrator reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for managing technology systems, oversight of the IT department, suppliers and vendors of technology, database support, and all technology planning. The position requires active leadership, interaction, and collaboration with the Head of School and Senior Team, faculty, staff, and students.
The Director of IT must be a strategic and creative technology planner, have an understanding of, and firm commitment to, the central mission of Fryeburg Academy as an independent town academy serving a diverse student population comprised of boarding and day students; a record
of successful managerial leadership; experience in project development and management; and a proven ability to communicate with all constituencies inside and outside of the Academy.
The Director of IT is responsible for ensuring the selective use and availability of technology, managing all IT operations, and supervising the network and systems administrator, IT Support and Help Desk Manager and copy center.
Essential Functions:
  • Manage, research, plan and ensure execution of all technology initiatives and services. Supervise technology and related staff.
  • Develop annual budgets and long-range, strategic plans in alignment with the School's mission and core values as directed by the Head of School.
  • Direct IT risk management processes, campus alert and PA systems, crucial database backup and file management
  • Conduct analysis of alternatives for major technology initiatives- including hardware, software, infrastructure and all outside telecommunications providers.
  • Research, negotiate and evaluate all technology service contracts including e-rate and private providers.
  • Serve as a key strategic advisor to the Head of School, other members of senior administrative leaders and to department chairs and faculty.
  • Serve on or co-chair the Technology Committee.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree (Masters preferred) in a Technology related field.
10 years of relevant IT management experience, with specific educational IT management a strong plus.
