Reporting to the Vice Principal for Information Technology and providing functional supervision for a Technology Support and Integration Specialist, the Director of Information Technology will help manage and maintain the current technology environment while advancing the effective and efficient integration of academic and administrative technology throughout Catholic Memorial.  This is a twelve month position.

 

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with all members of the school community and have clear goals and strategies for improving technology integration.  He or she should also demonstrate an enthusiasm and passion for new and emerging technology, be highly motivated and self-directed, possess superior problem-solving skills, and have experience in an academic setting.

 

 

Essential Functions:

Technical Support Responsibilities

·         Create and maintain a competitive technology strategy and vision stemming from the strategic plan.

·         Create user policies for systems operation and protection.

·         Create and assist in the maintenance of systems inventory and licensing.

·         Oversee the procurement of systems and parts.

·         Coordinate functional responsibility over administrative and academic technology systems.

·         Respond to incoming requests for technology assistance from all members of the Catholic Memorial community in a prompt and courteous manner.

·         Troubleshoot and resolve problems with computers, software, and peripheral equipment.

·         Install, assemble, and configure computers and peripherals.

·         Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of classroom and office technology.

·         Provide first tier support for fileservers, network hardware, administrative, and academic software systems including account creation and management.

·         Utilize software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and other diagnostic tools to facilitate problem resolution.

·         Create and maintain systems documentation.

·         Create and maintain inventories of hardware, software licenses, and technology consumables.

·         Ensure data integrity by managing and maintaining system and file backups.

·         Assist with monitoring and managing system, network, and user security.

·         Work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends, and maintain on-call availability as required.

·         Help to assess technology skills of faculty, staff, and students, and plan and implement appropriate professional development opportunities to expand those skills.

·         Identify trends in software, curriculum, and teaching strategies in all content areas, and recommend software and related resources to assist teachers in meeting subject-area goals.

·         Assist in establishing effective and efficient technology policies, procedures, and processes.

·         Participate in technology planning for the school.

·         Perform other tasks as assigned by the Vice Principal for Information Technology.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Required to wear proper attire, consistent with school’s dress code at all times and to maintain positive attitude and appearance in accordance with department/school standards
Must maintain high level of personal hygiene and cleanliness at all times
All school employees have some responsibility for reporting inappropriate behavior to School Administration in order to maintain a safe learning environment
·         Other duties as requested or assigned per the Vice Principal of Information Technology.

 

Qualifications:

·         Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field.  Masters level preferred.

·         Minimum of five years of technical support experience preferably in an academic environment.

Exceptional and effective interpersonal and written communication skills, especially the ability to present ideas in non-technical language.
Familiarity with a broad range of technologies including desktop and mobile operating systems, instructional technologies, productivity software, and diagnostic utilities.
Highly motivated and self-directed.
Keen attention to detail.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources and make informed recommendations.
Models and promotes the highest standard of conduct, ethics, and integrity in the access and use of electronic resources.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff and the public
Skill in facilitating and modeling quality customer service orientation
Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural, and diverse student population
Must have the ability to work in a school environment by successfully passing the state mandated Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check
Positive appearance, attitude and presentation with a strict sense of confidentiality
Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality is required and a condition of employment
 

 

 

Physical Qualifications:

Successfully complete post offer employment physical (if applicable)
Standing/sitting for long periods of time
Bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stooping (if applicable)
Use of hands and fingers for manipulation and using tools
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception
Ability to perform physical labor such as moving fixtures, equipment, lifting, and carrying items of weight (if applicable)
Carrying materials and equipment
 

Working Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
The employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions
The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
The employee may be regularly exposed to high noise environments
The employee may operate in a variety of conditions, in a climate controlled office and gymnasium, training rooms, and outdoor ball field environments
