Description

The Mercatus Center at George Mason University is seeking an experience leader to lead the IT department as the Director of Information Technology by overseeing the core IT functions and innovations. The IT team provides shared services to both the Mercatus Center and the Institute for Humane Studies Center at George Mason University. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management for the IT team and business partners to motivate, inspire, and engage
  • Oversee technology operations including network management, security, service desk support, hardware and software management, enterprise systems, technology project implementations and evaluate projects according to established goals
  • Develop and implement technology processes and strategies that support growth, innovation, and efficiency through technology
  • Analyze complex business needs presented by the user community and recommend technical solutions
  • Drive collaboration between the IT team and business partners in the organizations to establish priorities, identify risks, and increase goal accomplishment
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8 years of IT experience with 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • A bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred
  • Experience in analysis, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications while developing corresponding dashboards, key performance indicators, and metrics that demonstrate progress
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies that support growth, innovation, and efficiency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with technical and non-technical partners
