Summary Description:

Responsible for the overall strategy, planning, and execution of all Information Technology functions for AAUW. Direct the IT department and manage strategy and oversight for IT infrastructure, data network and backup systems, firewall and security issues, databases, servers, and hosting (on premise and cloud) and maintaining the AAUW national website and AAUW branch/state websites. Define AAUW’s IT goals and implement strategies to ensure support for AAUW’s mission. In addition to overseeing AAUW’s Information Technology services and systems, the Director will also serve as a key contributor to senior leadership within the organization. As new initiatives are developed and launched, the Director will play a crucial, collaborative role ensuring that IT (including web and database services) is leveraged and supportive in meaningful ways that further the goals of the project.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide strategic vision and oversight for all IT functions at AAUW.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring that the IT staff understands mission priorities and is meeting needs.
  • Manage the analyses of AAUW’s complex business needs and oversee implementation of technical solutions, improvements or upgrades.
  • Identify and recommend new scalable technology solutions to operationally and strategically meet current and future organizational needs, including migration to a more cloud-based environment.
  • Provide overall project leadership and management responsibility for organization’s association management system, database system, network system, and website.
  • Enhance the internal and external user experience by implementing training and support strategies that improve system knowledge and use.
  • Develop, establish and modify rules, policies or standards. Develop, implement and maintain IT disaster recovery plan.
  • Mentor and manage the IT staff to build an innovative, customer-focused team. Evaluate staff performance and ensure staff perform their assigned duties and functions.
  • Oversee allocation and usage of computer resources including maintenance of hardware and software. Develop and manage the IT operating budget and capital expense budget.
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to create the organizational IT plan and policies.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of broad-based and progressive experience in all aspects of information systems management including web site technology.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience. Ability to motivate staff to deliver measurable results.
  • Experience developing and managing budgets.
  • Ability to use written and verbal communication effectively at all levels of within and outside of the organization. Ability to explain technology uses and operation to various constituencies.
  • Nonprofit organization experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, and Salsa is desirable.
  • PMP certification a plus.
