This position will provide leadership and vision for the planning, development, and use of information technology in support of the Academy’s academic and administrative priorities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Directs and oversees the design, development, operation and support of information technology systems and programs supporting core operations and decision support including architecture management, application management, security and infrastructure and operations support management.

  • The Director of IT will report to and work closely with the CFO.  Together with campus leadership they will ensure ongoing enterprise information technology goals are aligned with institutional priorities and operating requirements.

  • Develops and maintains strong partnerships with Academy leaders, individual offices and departments within the Academy to optimize and support their creative, confident, and effective use of technology in teaching, learning, administration, and service.

  • Leads and develops the ITS team to excel at providing quality and reliable information technology services and resources, providing excellent customer service and partnership, effective communication, and supporting the adoption of operational best practices.

  • Directly oversees ITS management team including hiring, mentoring, developing, coaching and retaining quality staff.

  • Manages the Academy’s centralized ITS budget, monitoring performance against budget over time, and ensuring budget compliance.

  • Maintains currency on emerging technologies to strategically assimilate, integrate, implement and support a complement of systems capable of responding to the Academy’s operational needs and decision support. 

  • Establishes an environment of systems and applications designed with flexibility to adjust to the evolution of emerging school technology solutions

  • Responsible for the ongoing development of the IT strategy and roadmap, ensures integration with strategic planning processes and resulting business strategy

  • Maintains understanding of existing and emerging technology and data compliance requirements evaluating implications for the Academy and implementing compliance solutions.

  • Oversees vendor management of firms that supply technology or technology services to the Academy

  • Serves as the employee liaison for the Information Technology committee of the Trustee’s. This includes preparing meeting materials and leading all committee calls and committee presentations

  • Leads the information technology and data risk committee within the Academy’s institutional risk management program 

  • Facilitates regular communication with the Academy community regarding technology plans, projects, policies and procedures.

Frequent contact with students, Dean of Students office, PEA administrative and academic offices, faculty, coaches, and staff.  External contacts may include parents, outside organizations, visitors and local community neighbors.

Position Requirements

Education

  • BS in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Graduate work in business administration is preferred. PMP certification preferred.

Experience

  • Requires at least 7-10 years of management and supervisory responsibility of an information technology department.  

  • The position requires demonstrated successful leadership experience productively working and communicating with stakeholders from across the organization, as well as management of a full-service technology department.  

  • Proven successful experience in strategic technology planning, budget management, technology forecasting/projection and execution.

  7. Ability to use a visual display terminal with continuous wrist movement on a keyboard.

  8. Ability to hear within normal range.

  9. Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs without assistance.
