Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (Rochambeau), has an opening for a Director of Information Technology – Full Time.

Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (“Rochambeau”) is home to over 1,100 students from pre-K through 12th grade and is a community representing over 70 nationalities. As a non-profit corporation licensed by the state of Maryland, in close proximity to Washington, DC, Rochambeau is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and operates as part of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) global network of schools. Additionally, the school is in the final phases of accreditation by the Association of Independent Schools of Maryland and DC (AIMS) and has initiated the process of accreditation with the International Baccalaureate program in order to offer an IB program in the future. The school’s rigorous and comprehensive curriculum prepares students to earn a U.S. high school diploma and for the French baccalaureate examination, ultimately qualifying students for admission to institutions of higher education in the United States, in France, and abroad.

Rochambeau’s enrollment has grown by over 15% during the last five years. Rochambeau plans to open a new campus by 2021, which shall enable the development of new academic and extracurricular programs as well as further supporting increasing enrollment demands. 

Position summary:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position provides operational and technology leadership in the selection, implementation, and support of organization-wide information services and technology. Oversees the design, implementation and ongoing management of information systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the school’s integrated Mac and Windows network environment.

  • Manage the overall school’s 1:1 (iPad and BYOD) programs.

  • Manage the school’s G Suite including email and other productivity tools.

  • Manage and administer the school’s cloud-based enterprise wireless system.

  • Manage the school’s Student Information System software (Blackbaud).

  • Communicates technology-related activities in a timely manner to all stakeholders. 

  • Directs the installation of technology systems and tools (e.g. hardware, software, systems, wiring, specialized applications, and tools) for the purpose of ensuring the safe, timely and efficient installation of technology equipment and services.

  • Manage the IT team consists of 3 team members.

  • Train faculty and staff on relevant technologies.

  • Maintain and administer all network equipment in an enterprise environment.

  • Manage and support all aspects of IT on 3 different campuses that are interconnected through a private network

  • Supervisory responsibilities include hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in a CBA environment to maximize team efficiency and meeting operational requirements.

  • Prepares and monitors related contracts with outside vendors, and agencies. 

  • Works with school administration, teachers and managers to understand work requirements and processes in order to map these requirements into systems design.

  • Supervises the evaluation, acquisition, installation, and maintenance, of information and communications technology software to support the instructional and business needs of the School.  

  • Takes a leadership role in developing and implementing the School’s technology plan in terms of Information needs, systems development and hardware acquisition and integration.

  • Advise school leadership in selecting new technologies

  • Manage IT budgets, allocate resources, and determine appropriate project schedules.

  • Identifies changes and trends in computer, network and system technology and interprets their meaning to senior management.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Master’s degree preferred

  • MS MCSE and/or Apple certifications desirable

Experience:

  • Experience with rolling out 1:1 program

  • Experience with running workshops for faculty and staff on Google Apps, iPad, and other related educational technologies.

  • 5+ years of experience working with Windows server and Active Directory

  • 3+ years of experience working with Blackbaud or similar SIS

  • 3+ years of experience working with Mac Open Directory.

  • 5+ years of experience working with firewall and content filtering in a school environment.

  • 3+ years experience working with VMWare

  • Familiarity with independent school administrative operations (Admission, Business) and supporting software systems such as Blackbaud and Finalsite.

  • Experience managing IT for a $25 million organization in a fast-changing environment.

  • Experience supervising employees

  • Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants 

  • Experience with keeping hardware inventory and hardware lifecycle

  • Must be familiar with cloud computing and private cloud concepts

  • Must have a good understanding and vision for education technology and able to articulate that vision

  • Must be flexible, in that some evening and weekend hours may be required for this position.

  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
