The College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Director of Information Technology and Facilities. This position will serve as the Chief Information Officer for the College, overseeing strategic planning and innovation, leadership, resource management and facilities management.

 

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Oversee the overall direction and daily operation of the Information Technology and Facilities Department.
  • Manage the development of a budget, multi-year plan and new constructions plan for all IT areas in the College.
  • Provide collaborative and visionary leadership to all aspects of technology-related strategic planning.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures and practices follow industry standards with a focus on student success, customer service, data security, operational efficiency, sustainability and financial responsibility.
  • Provide leadership within the WVU community to promote the use of technology to improve education and administrative functions and to efficiently and effectively utilize both central and college resources.
  • Effectively lead, manage and supervise employees through communication, feedback, performance management.
  • Oversee the information technology infrastructure within the College, including networking, phones, voicemail, email, instructional technology, special technology, etc.
  • Develop and implement a plan for updating and replacing technology resources on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Establish a meaningful set of benchmarks and metrics to determine the effectiveness of processes and procedures, regularly assessing and making adjustments as needed.
  • Direct and manage the daily physical operation of the College, including space allocation and scheduling, access control, facilities management, oversight and coordination of construction and renovation project, and asset management.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as management information systems, computer science or related; master's or terminal degree in technical field preferred
  • Six (6) years of experience in the following is required:
    • Customer-focused IT support organization
    • Management of an IT department
    • Technical, supervisory and/or project management
  • At least five (5) years of experience in higher education required
  • At least two (2) years of experience in the following is preferred:
    • Teaching in higher education, especially large lectures and online
    • Facilities management
    • Major building construction management
  • At least one (1) year of experience managing student workers preferred

 

Requirements 

  • Background check
  • One or more of the following certifications, or certifications of equal substitute, are preferred:
    • CISSP or CISA
    • Network+
    • Security+
