Under the general direction of the Dean of Business Affairs, the employee plans, evaluates, organizes, and delivers information technology services across the College.  The Director provides leadership, vision, and overall management of the information technology services departments and staffs, coordinating all aspects of internal networks and systems administration and operation.  The employee is responsible for database management, application security, related online services, and related third-party software applications.

POSTING DATE:  January 28, 2019

SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule C2 (range: $65,968 - $98,658).

ANTICIPATED START DATE:  March 18, 2019

The position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan.

More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process. 

Minimum Qualifications/Screening Process

  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, interactive technology, business, public administration, or a related field is required.
  2. A master's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, interactive technology, business, public administration, or a related field is required. Or, in lieu of a master's degree, possess industry-acknowledged certifications demonstrating relevant expertise equivalent to that of a master's degree is required.

  3. Five years of operating experience on AS/400 systems, or similar mid-range computer systems, or main frame systems with greater than 30 users is required.

  4. Three years of supervisory experience within the IT or computer technology field is required.  OR, in lieu of three years' supervisory experience within the IT or computer technology field, possesses three years' top-level project management experience directing the collaborative efforts of IT professionals to achieve completion and implementation of hardware/software/networks for systems exceeding 30 users is required

  5. Possess a current and valid driver's license is required.

  6. Ability to travel is required.

  7. Ability to work nonstandard hours is required.

  8. Previous work experience in an educational setting is preferred.

  9. Three years of experience managing an IT department, including network and database administration in a multi-user environment is preferred.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed. All initial interviews will be conducted in person and applicants must travel at their own expense.

Employment verification letter(s) verifying a minimum of five years of operating experience on AS/400 systems, or similar mid-range computer systems, or main frame systems with greater than 30 users AND three years of supervisory experience within the IT or computer technology field OR in lieu of three years' supervisory experience, the three years' top-level project management experience  directing the collaborative efforts of IT professionals to achieve completion and implementation of hardware/software/networks for systems exceeding 30 users .  Letter(s) must include employment dates and job title and be on official letterhead with an authorized personnel signature. *ONLY when an applicant has a legitimate reason for not obtaining written verification by their own efforts, such as if the business is no longer in operation, an applicant may submit copies of appointment letters or contracts, and if that is not available, you may submit pay stubs or W-2 forms to confirm all relevant employment experience. 

  5. Copy of current and valid driver's license. 

  6. Appropriate transcripts identifying the applicant, institution, date degree conferred and verifying the applicant has received a Master's degree in computer science, interactive technology, business, public administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.  Transcripts may be unofficial for the application process but they must identify the applicant, institution, degree earned and the date the degree was conferred. (A copy of the diploma will not suffice)

  7. If you do not have a master's degree, you must submit industry acknowledged certifications demonstrating relevant expertise equivalent to that of a master's degree.

  8. Appropriate transcript(s) identifying the applicant, institution, date degree conferred and verifying the applicant has received the minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in computer science, interactive technology, business, public administration or a related field. Transcripts may be unofficial for the application process but they must identify the applicant, institution, degree earned and the date the degree was conferred. (A copy of the diploma will not suffice)NOTE: If employed, official transcripts will be required at that time.
