Under the general direction of the Associate University Librarian for Enterprise Services, the Director of the Information Technology Services (ITS) program directs and leads a team of technical professionals responsible for the design, delivery, and maintenance of the information technology infrastructure. The Director provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of a mature, robust, and sustainable information technology platform and manages a department composed of four units: Desktop Services, Operations, Service Desk Services, Development and Web Services. The incumbent is responsible for personnel, budget, operations, strategic planning, resource management; planning and implementation of key projects; coordination of strategic initiatives; and customer service.

The Director will provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for library-wide technological services and initiatives. Provides strategic advice to library administration with regards to information technology policy, strategy, and security. Participates in the development of a shared vision for the Library’s future that supports the mission of the University and is responsive to the changing needs of its constituents. 

Establishes and manages successful strategic and collaborative relationships with campus and external groups involved in the design, maintenance and delivery of information technology initiatives. Represents the Library and participates in relevant system-wide, regional, and national committees and organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience using and applying advanced Information Technology principles, theories, and concepts to manage and provide solutions 

  • Strong end-user centered approach to the delivery of IT services based on practical knowledge of end-user behavior in an academic setting or comparable user base.

  • Demonstrated experience in the management of ongoing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion, to include the identification and integration of suitable emerging technologies. 

  • Extensive experience managing technical staff. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, motivate and manage technical staff, delegate and reassign tasks, monitor production and quality of work, setting performance standards, assess individual capabilities and workloads, conduct performance evaluations.

  • Proven budgetary management skills to analyze financial data, make cost projections, coordinate IT contract negotiations and establish hardware and software upgrade priorities.

  • Demonstrated command of trends in digital libraries, information policy, collaborative technologies, and the storage, management, preservation, and delivery of information.
