During the 2018-2019 school year, the Cathedral School will unveil a brand new, innovative Makerspace and Innovation Center to serve the 300 students and 50 faculty in this rigorous, diverse community of learners. Cathedral is seeking an innovative, pioneering leader to (1) build on the active integration of technology and design and to (2) support the introduction of novel approaches to the use of the brand new Makerspace. The new space allows for the natural joining of these efforts under a single leader, who will work with the Library and New Media and STEAM teams, as well as the School’s faculty.

The Director of Innovation will be responsible for:

  • Facilitating workshops and training for faculty and students in areas including, but not limited to: making, tinkering, innovation, problem-based learning, design thinking, and rapid prototyping

  • Researching, developing and piloting creative maker activities

  • Collaborating with faculty and students in designing and implementing new

    learning opportunities

  • Managing the Maker Space, by developing tutorials on how to use the space

safely, documenting ongoing projects, maintaining the machines, tools,

materials, safe use, and schedule of the Makerspace

  • Attending and presenting at faculty meetings as needed

  • Teaching technology-based courses

  • Developing and executing a vision of the best way the new space and educational

technology can be used to support and enhance the existing program

Desired Qualifications:

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a demonstrated history of showing initiative

  • A positive, inspiring, and collaborative personality

  • Knowledge and experience with physical programming, robotics, and coding
