Job Summary:

Saltus Grammar School is seeking a creative and dynamic Director of Innovation and Technology to join the leadership team and will report to the Head of School. The Director of Innovation and Technology will lead the implementation of an information technology plan that meets current and future needs of the School. The Director of Innovation and Technology will be responsible for managing technology infrastructure of the School and implement technology solutions for a 21st century learning environment and operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide vision and leadership to ensure the academic and business programs are supported by cutting edge educational technology resources and pedagogy
  • Establish a vision for the effective use of technology within the operations of the school and revolutionize learning in the classroom
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, software and hardware solutions and propose learning strategies using new technology
  • Manage and administer the management of the school’s network, infrastructure, databases and telecommunications systems
  • Work with stakeholders to implement the technology plan
  • Establish and enforce policies, procedure and standards which include Acceptable User policies
  • Ensure IT policies and procedures are communicated to all stakeholders and updated
  • Negotiate service level agreements with customers and service providers, monitor service delivery to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met
  • Plan and manage the implementation of technology initiatives such as new systems, processes and structures
  • Lead and manage an information technology team
  • Manage the operating budget for the department with a strong lens on cost effectiveness
  • Provide support to network, server and client infrastructure
  • Ensure the parent body is informed of information technology plans and progress
  • First responder to network outages and failures on a 24 hour basis as required
  • Other responsibilities as required

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Educational Technology
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar position at a senior level
  • Previous experience in an academic environment preferred
  • MCSA OR MCSE Certification or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge of IT operations and associated concepts and technologies to include: TCP/IP networking, switching/routing, firewalls, network security, backup and disaster recovery, Windows Server, Active Directory, Server Virtualization, Storage Area Networks, VoIP
  • Experience with leading and managing staff
  • Previous experience in the development and implementation of large-scale projects that support strategic goals
  • Ability to arrive at decision in a collaborative manner
  • Experience with maintaining a BYOD environment is preferred
  • Strong business acumen with extensive technical knowledge and experience
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and requirements
  • Excellent communication and the ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Willingness to work extended hours – including weekends and evenings as required
  • Strong work ethic and dedicated lifelong learner
  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast paced environment
