Primary Objective

The director of instructional technology will support all Whitefield Academy faculty, staff, and administration in integrating technology into classroom instruction and school culture. This individual will provide general instructional leadership for classroom teachers, expertise in how to integrate technology into best practices of teaching, and will monitor execution of Whitefield’s Academy’s strategic plans for instructional technology and digital stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Technology Integration
• Lead the implementation of technology integration standards throughout all
levels at Whitefield Academy
• Establish and/or maintain easily accessible instructional technology website listings, software databases, and reference resources for faculty that support the effective integration of technology into instruction
• Collaboratively develop and monitor a system or systems for understanding successful technology integration
• Make recommendations to IT support regarding care, maintenance and replacement of classroom hardware

Teacher Professional Development
• Design and implement a professional development program for faculty, staff, and administration that supports the mission of technology integration into Whitefield Academy classrooms
• Assist teachers in developing and modeling exemplary technology-integrated lessons in their classrooms
• Train new employees on the integration of technology in the classroom

Strategic Planning
• Keep current on research trends and significant developments in the area of technology, curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
• Review current and future technology programs, make recommendations for improvement, and lead implementation of improvements in technology programs for Whitefield Academy students, including but not limited to student use of devices in the classroom for student learning (bring-your-own, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, etc.), STEAM initiatives, and virtual and/or blended course offerings.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experience, multi-divisional (i.e. Lower School, Middle School, and/or Upper School) is preferred
• Master’s degree in teaching and/or instructional technology preferred
• Demonstrated record of establishing a successful technology integration and minimum of two years of experience serving in an instructional technology role
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to develop strategic plans in the areas of technology integration
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with those across various proficiency levels
• Ability to simultaneously manage substantive short-term and long-term goals
• Candidates with specialized technology certifications are preferred
