The Director of Technology is the chair of the Technology Department and a member of the administrative team. Acting as a leader, mentor, and role-model, the Director of Technology will provide leadership and develop technology strategies aligned with the educational and curricular goals of FASNY. The Director of Technology manages the use of technology throughout the school including network administration, database management, system documentation, hardware and software management, overseeing the school’s intranet website, and ensuring that technology is integrated within the instructional program.

They will also have Tier 3 technical support responsibilities. In particular, the Director of Technology will:

Provide strategic leadership in the area of technology integration at FASNY through the formulation of a clear vision and strategy document.
Work with the administration on a regular basis to ensure that the use of technology in the entire school is appropriate and is consistent with the best practices model of technology integration through high level strategy meetings convened at the beginning and end of every school year.
Act as a resource in providing support for administrators, staff, students, and faculty particularly if solutions implemented by the Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff are unsuccessful.
Perform network design, wide area connectivity, workstation configuration, needs assessment, business process re-engineering, Internet/Intranet connectivity, remote access, migration, and other tasks as required.
Coordinate programs for educating the school (administration, faculty, staff, and students) about issues related to technology.
Work with select members of the IT staff in representing the school at workshops, conferences, and professional meetings (NYCIST, NYSAIS, ATIS, I-Media), and staying actively engaged in the community.
Remain current in relevant technology issues and trends in educational technology through communication with colleagues at other schools and attending workshops and conferences.
Manage daily activity of technical staff through group meetings and promote dialogue within the team to establish best practices. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, will be a team player and a team builder, and will be solution and service oriented.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

- At least 8 years experience administering networks with more than 200 users.

- Tier 3 knowledge of Microsoft and Apple server operating environments

- Previous education technology experience a plus along with advanced certifications
