The IT Director is responsible for the overall planning, organization, integration, implementation, and maintenance of all IT functions at the school. S/he will work closely with Division Directors in the development and implementation of various curriculum-based initiatives to integrate technology into the instructional program. 

The roles and responsibilities of this position are as follows: 

  • Demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of a complex technological network environment and possess the skills to maintain it for efficiency and stability in support of the school community.

  • Analyze the current and future needs of the school technologically and possess the ability to explain those needs to others.

  • Demonstrate ability to self-motivate, schedule, prioritize and successfully complete complex technological projects.

  • Lead, guide, educate and manage the current IT Manager in support of all aspects of the RPDS technological educational community.

  • Support the Business Office in the development and oversight of the annual instructional and administrative technology operational and capital budgets.

  • Direct, coordinate, supervise, facilitate or perform all tasks and elements needed to effect comprehensive integration of appropriate technology into every facet of operations.

  • Contribute to the infusion of educational technology into classrooms, libraries/media centers and administrative office by providing highly motivating, full-time, professional leadership in all areas of technology planning and technology resource management.

  • Collaborating across departments and functional areas that support adoption and implementation of technology in all aspects of school business, including those that improve teaching and learning and promote 21st century skills.

  • Organize and maintain school networks and devices for contemporary educational technological communities that are efficient, stable, up-to-date and prepared for instructional needs.

  • Guide solutions to technical problems involving technological hardware and software.

  • Support school leadership in technological decision-making by being proactive and knowledgeable.

  • Lead complete network administration and planning.

  • Schedule and support professional technicians as needed when network issues require outside intervention.

  • Work collaboratively with Division Directors in the review of software, hardware, services, and delivery formats.

Background Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Demonstrated professional experience in a technology leadership role.

  • At least four years’ experience in K–12 educational setting preferred.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as speaking and presentation skills.

  • In conjunction with the School's policy, this position requires a Level II Background check which includes fingerprinting and toxicology screening.

Advanced to expert knowledge in the following areas:

  • GSuite for Education Administration

  • Web Filtering Experience

  • Microsoft Active Directory

  • Mobile Device Management using Lightspeed Systems

 Intermediate to advanced knowledge in the following areas:

  • Microsoft Server Environments

  • Windows 10, MacOS, and iOS support

  • Group Policy

  • MacOS Server

  • Palo Alto NGFW and Endpoint Protection

  • Brocade Switching and Routing

  • Ruckus Wireless Controllers and Access Points

  • Backup and Replication using Backup Exec and native solutions

Intermediate knowledge in the following areas:

  • Apple School Manager

  • NagiosXI

  • Office 365

  • Classlink or SSO solutions
