Enterprise Systems, as a division of the College’s Information Technology department, has College wide systems and process impact. You will be a member of the Information Technology Leadership Council (ITC) where collaboration and support is key to excellence in customer service, and a high-quality education for our students. The ITC includes Enterprise Systems, User Support Services, IT Infrastructure Services, Information Assurance and Reporting, and is headed up by the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for IT/Chief Information Officer.  The total campus wide staff of PCC IT is upward to 100 employees.

 

The Enterprise Systems Director is responsible for IT Project Management including identifying needs, developing solutions and requirements, implementing and continuous improvement of the College’s highly complex enterprise systems and the supporting business processes and reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the group that provides technical systems support to the College’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and all other integrated systems; e.g. Student Application, Travel & Expense Management, Human Resource Information Systems, Assessment Management, Financial Aid verification, etc.

  • Ensure that the College’s enterprise systems and use of the College’s system meet the needs of the College wide community 

  • Optimize the use of the College’s highly complex enterprise systems, including identifying, developing, and implementing new business processes and reports

  • Frequently manage projects that have a College wide impact 

  • Assist with scheduling and testing software and hardware upgrades, planning and managing system implementations; and other related activities 

  • Implement, evaluate, and improve processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the College mission, values, goals, objectives, and initiatives 

  • Supervise employees, including prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; training staff, making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations

  • Direct the activities of the unit, to include; planning, implementing, administering and evaluating projects and services impacting the College community.

  • Advise or responds to questions from other College departments, the Board of Governors, and external agencies regarding complex issues or policies impacting the College’s enterprise systems

  • Implement, establish, monitor, evaluate, and improve processes, procedures and/or standards, ensuring alignment with College mission, values, goals, objectives, and initiatives and local, state, and Federal laws and regulations.

  • Direct and supervise the collection of data and the preparation of a variety of reports regarding the College’s enterprise systems.

  • Develop and administer budgets; implement and allocate resources following budget approval; approve expenditures

  • Develop, plan, implement, and administer organizational goals and objectives

  • Work with staff and other stakeholders to create and implement solutions in both a planned environment and on an ad hoc basis 

  • Create communication plans and communicate systems changes and enhancements to the College community 

  • Keep staff and management apprised of project and system status via the preparation of a variety of reports, statements, and communications 

  • Participate in special studies and task forces and recommend improvements to College business practices, processes, and systems

  • Frequently initiates and manages projects that have a College wide impact

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other related fields and

  • Four years managerial and supervisory experience 

or 

  • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications should describe in detail the education and work experience you regard as establishing the equivalency.  

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience with implementation, maintenance, upgrades, and operations of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (the College currently uses Ellucian Banner)

  • Oracle or equivalent databases 

  • Ability to troubleshoot and create solutions for complex technical issues involving computer software and hardware 

  • Experience with integrated systems programs 

  • Project management and administration in business and IT settings 

  • Effective customer service principles and methods for establishing and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships 

  • Applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations 

  • Information security 

  • Strong business management practices 

  • Apply new systems and processes to streamline workflow in complex organizations 

  • Supervisory and resource planning principles, including managing, monitoring and evaluating employees and prioritizing and assigning work

  • Strategy development principles and procedures

  • Business process improvement 

  • Customer service and conflict resolution 

  • Develop and implement budgets

  • Advanced knowledge, experience, and skills with personal computers including software such as Microsoft Office; project management software; report creation software like Crystal Reports; query languages like SQL and PL/SQL; Toad for Data Analysts; and other applicable peripherals and software 

  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend improvements to processes and procedures 

  • Identify and implement technological solutions to automate and streamline business processes 

  • Plan, analyze, and evaluate enterprise systems, operational needs, and fiscal constraints

  • Interpret and apply applicable local state and federal laws and regulations that apply to a higher education environment 

  • Manage change and handle sensitive topics and data 

  • Prepare and review complex documents and contracts

  • Administer contracts

  • Analyze complex situations 

  • Effectively communicate technical or complex information to a non-technical audience in English, both orally and in writing 

  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a broad range of diverse constituents including the College community, students, and the public

  • Provide excellent customer service to customers at all levels
