Cardigan Mountain School, founded in 1945, is a private boarding and day school for boys, with 210 boys in grades 6-9. Approximately 37% of our student body is international students, with 10% day students and/or sons of faculty. The vast majority of our graduates matriculate to the nation’s finest secondary schools, both in the US and internationally. We seek a Director for the Kirk Library who will be pivotal in its redesign and management of daily library operations. The Director of the Kirk Library & Educational Technology at Cardigan Mountain School will be a leader in the school community working closely with the school’s Director of Studies and academic department chairs. He/she will promote the integration of literacy, media/technology, research and innovative/creative thinking. He/she will take a leadership role in the redesign of the current library in order to help create a dynamic learning space that will support the school’s mission; promote curiosity, inquiry and a love of reading; and foster a collaborative atmosphere among all community constituents. This person will lead the creation of an academic space that provides students with the opportunity to develop 21st-century skills including information analysis, synthesis of ideas and information, critical thinking, creativity, and responsible technology use. A successful applicant will have an MLIS/MLS degree (or equivalent) from an accredited college/university, experience in library management and an innovative, future-focused vision for the role of a dynamic library in a residential school for boys at the middle school level. The individual must have strong presentation and teaching skills, paired with keen interpersonal skills and a sense of humor. A love of middle school students and an appreciation for this particular stage of their development is essential. Candidates must also complete a nationwide criminal background check. |
