We are seeking a Director of Learning, Innovation, and Design teacher to join our middle school team beginning with the 2018/2019 school year. Position Summary

The role of the person in this position is to assure that Harker’s Middle School is making continuous improvements to the effective use of innovative learning strategies as a means of accomplishing its educational mission.

Qualifications

  • 3 plus years of teaching experience
  • Bachelor degree, Masters preferred

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, review, implement curricular components requiring the use of technology and innovative learning strategies
  • Provide staff development focused on educational needs
  • Participate in the development and implementation of an appropriate technology plan
  • Develop technology budget for his/her division and provide budget review to other academic departments in the Middle School
  • Represent the school effectively in regional activities (CAIS, BAISNet, CUE, etc.)
  • Continuously evaluate emerging and existing tools for applicability to Harker’s mission
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of the school’s implementation of innovative tools and strategies
  • Model appropriate pedagogy by teaching at least one section of a school approved course
  • Maintain effective relationships with students – including participating in the activities of at least one club
  • Collaboratively work with other Harker Learning, Innovation, and Design Directors to maintain continuity and efficiency for all LID-related initiatives

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver staff development on a general, departmental, and individual level
  • Create, and assist faculty in creating, technology-enhanced learning opportunities
  • Assist in selection and implementation of appropriate administrative tools (grade books, etc.) and provide relevant training
  • Provide direction for students and their use of technology
  • Support and help guide appropriate and relevant technology policies for student and faculty use
  • Provide advice and support to administration in selection of Middle School faculty
  • Attend and present at relevant conferences and professional activities
  • Provide staff development focused on educational and instructional needs; this includes but is not limited to support of the Harker Teacher institute in the summer, LID Vision Days throughout the year, organizing professional development trips with faculty, and coordinating required opportunities for faculty to present on findings from school-organized professional development trips.
  • Provide other service and perform other duties as requested by administration

Knowledge and Skills

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of innovative learning strategies and relevant tools
  • Extensive knowledge of a wide variety of operating systems and applications
  • Effective teaching skills for delivery to both Middle School students and faculty
  • Experience or training in instructional design and implementation
  • Broad experience in curriculum development across a variety of curricular areas.

Physical Activities and requirements of the position

  • Ability to communicate in effective English with staff, faculty, administration, and outside firms, etc. in person, via email, and by telephone.
  • Hear individuals, groups, telephone and intercom communications, public address announcements, emergency signals, etc.
  • Effective computer use, using multiple platforms
  • Lift boxes up to 25 lbs.
