St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a Director of Operations (DoO) who will provide exemplary leadership in our key operational and business infrastructure areas as part of a strong and growing organization. The DoO is a key member of the school’s leadership, reporting directly to, and serving as a strategic partner of the Headmaster. It is essential that the DoO understands and demonstrates a commitment to embodying and operationalizing the Mission of St. Mark’s Episcopal School. 

The primary function of the DoO is to provide leadership and managerial oversight to the school’s non-academic operations. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Overseeing the modeling and forecasting of school finances to develop and sustain a 5-year financial plan

  • Actively stewarding the growth of school leadership knowledge of and competency with finance literacy and skills

  • Oversight of monthly and long-term financials, including yearly audit

  • Responsibility for reports to and relationships with local, regional, and national associations and memberships

  • Identifying, developing, and implementing operational process improvements

  • Overseeing and supervising the Directors of Business & Finance, Facilities, and food services (Chef Manager).

  • Serving as liaison to the school’s external food service contractor

  • Serving as liaison to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church

  • Managing and coordinating contract vendors, relationships, and processes

  • Supporting the Headmaster in his relationships with the Board of Trustees, specifically the Finance Committee and the Church-School Committee

  • Managing risk, including but not limited to internal controls, property, liability, employee, and employer insurance

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Headmaster in support of the school

Technology Skills Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Blackbaud products (Financial Edge & Raiser’s Edge)

  • Knowledge of Finalsite and its portal system

  • Knowledge of FAST Financial Aid 

  • Proficiency with Google Suite

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite

  • Proficiency with Apple products

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; a focus in a related field preferred

  • Work experience in an independent school setting preferred

  • 5 years of relatable experience preferred

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
