Position Overview:

Drew School is looking to fill a Director of STEAM Innovation position beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. We are looking for someone eager to collaborate with teachers and students on curricular development, both within Drew’s Maker Space and within classrooms, helping to make our Maker Space a central hub of innovation on campus. We also seek a Director who can inform the school’s conversations about the growth of STEAM programming during the school’s ongoing Curriculum Review and upcoming Strategic Planning, helping the school situate design, technology, and innovation at the center of Drew’s institutional priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach two STEAM-focused course offerings

  • Manage Maker Space and Learning Commons, working to develop integration of the spaces, and/or helping school envision renovations to existing spaces

  • Work with Director of Experiential Education to build out STEAM opportunities within Experiential Education structures

  • Develop and teach Experiential Elective blocks and DEALL programs with STEAM focus and using school’s Maker Space

  • Consult with faculty members on STEAM project opportunities for their classes, and act as visiting teacher to facilitate projects

  • Partner with Academic Dean to enhance STEAM focus within Drew’s curriculum, and particularly on the development of STEAM-focused performance tasks

  • Collaborate with Dean of Faculty to train faculty to enhance project-based learning opportunities in their classrooms and in use of the Maker Space

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree minimum in the discipline

  • Has experience in an independent school setting

  • Has experience working with students with learning differences

  • Enjoys working with teenagers

  • Is self-reflective and growth-minded

  • Has the ability to collaborate with adults and students

  • Is culturally competent and a practitioner of equity and inclusion

  • Has the ability to maintain standards of professionalism
