Duties and Responsibilities

Planning & Oversight

  • Contribute to building a culture of innovation, and creating awareness about STEM and its potential
  • Oversee the development of an SMLS STEM pathway focused on broadening student exposure to STEM (coding, robotics)

  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure that the most current STEM curriculum is integrated into curriculum and programs across the School

  • Facilitate and oversee all Robotics programming including First Lego League (FLL), First Lego League Robotics, VEX Robotics, and FIRST Robotics.

  • Act as the lead Mentor for the SWAT 771 Robotics team, including annual planning, budgeting, build season and competitions, team leadership, and recruiting community and industry Mentors 

School & Community Engagement

  • Plan and oversee all STEM­related outreach efforts (community events, alumnae engagement, sponsorships, partnerships, mentoring) working with staff and faculty across the School

  • Find opportunities to integrate STEM learning and activities into auxiliary programming (i.e. camps and clubs)

  • Support SMLS Open Houses and key School events as required (curriculum night, annual Homecoming, awards nights)

  • Build strong networks and act as a liaison with FIRST Canada and other local organizations and CAIS Schools
