Maret seeks a Director of Technology to lead its systems management, technology infrastructure, and coordinate efforts to move the school's technology forward. We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful leader who is able to develop collegial, respectful and collaborative working relationships with faculty, administration, students, and parents. The technology department consists of the Director of Academic Technology, Senior Network Administrator, Instructional Technologist, Database Manager, and multi-divisional technology teachers. We have a thriving program of blended learning classes, makerspaces, a BYOD program in the upper school, and substantial technology resources for each division. The successful candidate will be a leader who has demonstrated the ability to develop, articulate, and implement a forward-thinking and effective technology vision for Maret.

Opportunities and Challenges

  • Participate in the development and implementation of Maret's technology mission and vision.
  • Manage the technology budget.
  • Manage and lead instructional technologists, network administrator, and end-user support personnel.
  • Oversee the application of tools and programs to serve the faculty and student population in both academic and non-academic offices.
  • Work closely with the Director of Academic Technology to promote progressive teaching initiatives that integrate technology.
  • Develop, promote and support the continuing technology training of teaching and non-teaching faculty at Maret.
  • Serve as a resource for information on the current landscape of educational and institutional technology.
  • Promote responsible and thoughtful use of technology throughout the community.
  • Support the Malone School Online Network program and other online learning initiatives, as well as the school's video teleconference systems.
  • Effectively collaborate on and manage technology projects across departments with a strong understanding of what is required for successful implementation of new technology platforms and tools.
  • Oversee and support the Bring Your Own Device program in Maret's Upper School.
  • Oversee the school's end-user support/helpdesk operations.
  • Work with the Head of School or her designee on special projects to be determined.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with information technology in a school environment.
  • Strong technology background and strong understanding of education and the complexities of working with a wide range of constituents.
  • Experience managing a significant technological infrastructure and technology support staff.
  • Demonstrated capability to create and manage information systems to meet the need of constituencies.
  • Knowledge of current trends and recent innovations in educational and information technology.
  • A vision for the future of technology infrastructures within schools, including a place for cloud computing, mobile technologies, and database services.
  • Experience in guiding the implementation of technology-driven communications platforms for faculty, staff, students, and parents, which successfully integrate websites, intranets, school databases, and social media platforms.
  • Leadership, creativity, enthusiasm, and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Very strong oral and written communication skills
