The Director of Technology is the member of the senior administrative team tasked with leading the school’s school’s strategic technology efforts to foster and inspire this “innovative community” -- a key priority in the School’s mission. The Director plays two critical roles: ensuring that the technology systems, infrastructure, and team are best in class, providing our community the support we need to fulfill our mission; and driving the school’s efforts, through technology integration and dedicated technology curriculum, to give every student, PreK-12, the knowledge, skills, and habits they will need in the 21st century.

The Director reports to the Head of School and serves on the Academic Committee and Administrative Team. The Director partners with all school constituencies, manages a budget of over $500K, is responsible for all technology infrastructure, systems and policies, and oversees a technology team of six. The Director typically serves as the Upper School Academic Technology Coordinator and teaches one academic class in that division. Depending on the needs of the school and interest of the candidate, there may be opportunities for leadership of the Computer Science department, coaching, advising, chaperoning, club leadership, and other activities. The Director will also partner with members of the faculty and leadership team on the school’s PreK-12 STEAM program; that program features a vertically-aligned design-focused curriculum across divisions, an Upper School concentration and capstone design-and-build experience for students with a special passion in that area, and several dedicated maker spaces.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • an advanced degree in a relevant field (computer science, instructional technology, educational leadership, etc.)
  • at least five years of technology leadership in schools
  • demonstrated capacity for budgeting
  • experience managing systems and networks in a complex organization
  • familiarity with Senior Systems, the Google suite, and Haiku/PowerSchool
  • the capacity to execute large-scale projects
  • the ability to manage and inspire a team
  • a love for tinkering and technology
  • a passion for teaching and working with young people
  • a familiarity with the PreK-12 environment
  • facility as a spokesperson for the school’s technology and innovation efforts
  • strategic vision and the ability to inspire others with that vision.

For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, who are flexible, creative, and organized, who embrace lifelong learning, who will fully engage in the life of the school, and who are committed to fostering an inclusive community.

The Director is a twelve-month employee, and the position begins in the summer of 2019.
