Description of Work

Serves as Director of Technology and plays a mission critical role in supporting the Founding Director’s work to create a Center and program of international distinction and excellence. This position supports the Center’s state-of-the-art facilities, curriculum requirements, and creative research agenda through providing high-level technical and technological expertise, advice and leadership. The Director of Technology’s role is to design and maintain technology resources for the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts, and to facilitate the sound, video and other technological needs of students, faculty and guests. The Director of Technology will also have some teaching and mentoring responsibilities.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in media and/or technology or related field plus 3 years of related experience required; equivalent education/experience considered. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Mac and PC environment necessary and skilled with Microsoft Office. Knowledge of story-driven media production required. Must have minimum 3 years of experience in at least one of the following areas: emerging media, audiovisual systems, live action production, virtual production, technical support or audio technology. Must demonstrate credibility, emotional maturity, positivity and confidence. Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated and be able to demonstrate initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional certification in specific technical areas related to the position preferred. Experience working in a professional media production environment desirable. Prefer experience in any of the following: virtual and mixed reality technologies; physical computing; IoT; post production; audio production; technology for immersive media; audiovisual technology planning and procurement; project management; or 3D projection mapping. Experience in academic environments helpful. Experience in interdisciplinary collaborations desirable.
