Executive Education is a highly successful and growing unit within the GSB.  It is responsible for the development and management of all the school’s non-degree program offerings and has grown approximately 100% in revenue over the last 5 years.  The mission of our organization is to “use GSB faculty ideas to inspire global leaders to change their thinking and drive positive impact throughout their organizations.”  Exec Ed also provides an ideal vehicle for the GSB to experiment with innovation in both content and pedagogy. 

The Director of Technology will lead and administer Executive Education technology functions under minimal supervision.  Reporting to the Managing Director, Finance & Technology, the Director is responsible for managing Exec Ed’s technology stack and guiding technology decisions for the department. In addition, the Director will implement process improvements and maintain data hygiene. The Director is responsible for hiring and training staff to serve as operational support partners to the department and contribute to the goal of delighting participants, clients, staff, and faculty. The director will oversee a staff of 7 employees.

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the strategic planning and operations for functions and programs that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.

  • Manage life cycle of software development from selection, design, development, testing to deployment and maintenance.

  • Evaluate programs, policies and procedures. Identify issues and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures.

  • Manage the administration and evaluation of programs or functions. Oversee the interpretation, implementation and compliance with policies and regulations.  Recommend actions and/or resolve complex issues that often span organizational boundaries.

  • Represent the program or function at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies. 

  • Develop and manage outreach strategy that includes relationship development, communications, and compliance.  

  • Oversee or supervise staff in the development and implementation of programs or functions. Assess training needs and may develop associated training.

  • Perform analysis for vendor selection; perform vendor outreach; compile data and generate ad hoc reports and metrics related to any project phase.

  • Be flexible to completing any other additional assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience or combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence and motivate constituencies which could span multiple organizational boundaries.

  • Demonstrated excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions using good business judgment and innovative and creative problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial, organizational and staff resources and meet budget goals

  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines

  • Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to bridge functional and technical resources by productively engaging and influencing cross-functional teams

  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle desirable

  • Knowledge and experience in database, reporting and visualization tools such as SQLServer, Salesforce, Oracle, and Tableau as well as Microsoft Office and Google tools and Jira, smartsheet, and/or project management tools and methodologies.
