Archbishop Curley High School invites applications for the position of Director of Technology.  Located in Baltimore, Archbishop Curley High School is a Roman Catholic college preparatory school rooted in the Franciscan tradition and dedicated to the development of the Curley Man who is challenged to reach his maximum academic and personal potential leading him to be a man of faith, character, discipline, and service to others.

The Archbishop Curley High School, Director of Technology, is responsible for implementing and maintaining the Archdiocese of Baltimore standard technology profile (or equivalent systems) for Archbishop Curley High School. This is a 12 month, full-time position reserved for one who has a strong background and is experienced in the multifaceted aspects of technology as listed below; especially in the educational environment. At the same time our Director of Technology, on a professional level, must be able to relate well with faculty, staff and students.

Essential Functions:

  • Archdiocesan Directors of Technology to ensure Archbishop Curley is positioned for current and future technology needs.

  • Ensure school technology initiatives are aligned with Best Practices for Educational Technology as set forth by the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Department of Schools, and Archbishop Curley High School.

  • Manage school infrastructure, including ISP, Firewall, Content Filtering, Switching, Wireless Networks, and Wired Networks.

  • Maintain the inventory and operational status of end user devices (including devices on the Android, Chrome, iOS, Linux, and Windows platforms).

  • Administer Mobile Device Management Platforms.

  • Maintain monthly technology reports for inventory, warranty, spending, performance, maintenance, and hardware decommissioning.

  • Monitor wireless bandwidth utilization, throughout, and ISP uptimes.

  • Monitor and address issues as posted by users in the ticket tracking system.

  • Maintain system backups, security patches, and content filtering.

  • Manage network security - password policies, 2FA, deep packet inspections, and malware mitigation.

  • Ensure that Software as a Service (SaaS) and Enterprise Systems are properly configured and deployed (Google Workspace for Education, Library Software, Online Payment Processing, etc).

  • Manage school networks and devices to ensure compliance with Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and E-Rate requirements.

  • Maintain data required for the annual E-Rate funding process.

  • Facilitate the use of existing and emerging technology by staff and students.

  • Ensure that classroom AV systems are properly maintained.

  • Attend Archdiocese of Baltimore School Technology Steering Meetings.

  • Ensure school software is properly licensed and maintain related records.

  • Participate in other initiatives as directed by the Archdiocesan Director of Educational Technology to support the vision of Technology in Catholic Schools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of information systems.

  • Proven ability to manage large multi-year technology infrastructure projects, track project budgets, adherence to timelines and milestones, and communicate project status to schools leadership. 

  • Proven record of accomplishment in technology planning and technology personnel management, ideally in a K-12 academic setting.

  • Broad knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the use of technology in schools.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities.

  • Proven ability to negotiate and work with vendors and consultants.

  • Experience with a range of software, hardware, and operating systems.

  • Familiarity with current educational technologies including; iPads, Chromebooks, MS Windows Computer, 3-D printers, and interactive whiteboards.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

  • Evidence of leadership and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of current trends in technology and instructional technology .

  • Understands, accepts, and supports the Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives.

  • Strong understanding of and experience working with MS Active Directory, group policies, security groups, and network logon scripting.

  • Strong understanding of and experience working with cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, Office365 and Google Suite for Education.
