Villa Maria Academy High School, located in Malvern, PA, has an opening for a DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY.  This is a 12 month position reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and supervises the Network Administrator and IT Support Specialist.

PROFESSIONAL GOALS:
Primary responsibility of the Technology Director is to provide for the planning and implementation of technology to improve teaching, learning, communication, and school management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science/IT or related field.

  • Instructional Technology Specialist certification or teaching certificate, optional.

  • Experience working in a school environment.

  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in the development, installation and maintenance of information systems.

  • Strong understanding and experience setting up, configuring, and managing network components.

  • Strong understanding and experience working with MS Active Directory, group policies, security groups, and network logon scripting.

  • Possesses efficient time management and problem solving skills

  • Is an effective communicator and writer, collaborator and leader who understands the independent school market.

This is a position with responsibilities that range from strategic and long-range technology planning and implementation of systemwide technology solutions, to providing one-on-one, and group training and support. Experience working in the education field is important for understanding how technology supports educational outcomes, where technology funding sources can be accessed, and that a culture of collaboration and creativity can support success.

ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide the school in the implementation of technology

  • Stay current with trends in education and technology to make recommendations for the direction of instructional and infrastructure technology.

  • Manage the budgets used for technology purchases, including technology-based capital projects, building and special projects.

  • Maintain and update the technology infrastructure to facilitate communications

  • Oversee the training of school staff in the use of technology

  • Attend and serve on ALT (Admin Leadership Team), Admin Staff, Security and Safety Committee.

  • Coordinate and support data management needs of the school.

  • Supervise all technology personnel and advise with computer science curriculum resources.

  • Coordinate and maintain a procedure for backup /recovery of all mission critical systems and cloud storage

  • Support Principal and core administrative team as requested with systems and technology.

  • Monitor the following school infrastructure systems with IT Team, Facilities Director or administratively as outlined in Cyber Plan.

  • Serve as an ambassador of the Tech Program and VMAHS at events both on and off campus.
