POSITION OVERVIEW:

Admiral Farragut Academy, a reputable K-12 private school on the waterfront in beautiful Saint Petersburg, FL seeks a creative, innovative, and forward-thinking Director of Technology. This is a full-time, 12-month position that will report directly to the Head of School and is responsible for end-user support, networking, cloud administration, and classroom/meeting room technology. Hours may vary to accommodate special events and may involve occasional weekend work and some evening or early morning work, depending on school events and emergency situations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Provide technical support to students, faculty, and staff, including 1:1 initial equipment setup.
  • Work with students and faculty on how to effectively use technology to enable teaching and learning.
  • Help manage, install and program the wired and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Work with the CFO on IT budgeting, purchasing and licensing.
  • Assist in event and classroom support for audiovisual and computer needs.
  • Create, update, and help fulfill technical support requests.
  • Install and configure hardware and software with a focus on usability and security.
  • Troubleshoot technology issues.
  • Help perform tests and evaluations of new software and hardware.
  • Manage the phone system.
  • Manage the technology inventory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and pivot when necessary
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with network/system administration and cloud-based services
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
  • Experience implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Blackbaud
  • Able to support and manage Google Workspace applications and domains, Windows, iOS, Blackbaud, Google Classroom, Chromebooks, and WiFi networking
  • Enthusiastic about working in a school environment with both students and teachers
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations and setbacks
  • Ability to work with management, employees, vendors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Ability to be on-call and react quickly in the event of an emergency that causes the school’s systems to go down
  • Ability to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance and drug screen
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with Arista, Netgear-802.1Q, UniFi Ubiquity, or similar firewalls,  gateways, VLANs, switches and access points. 
  • Experience with Avaya VOIP, Avaya IP Office or similar VOIP phone systems and telecommunications.
  • Experience with Linux Desktop systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity and student data privacy.
  • Experience with Domain registrations and Domain Name Servers 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience as a manager or director of IT for an organization with 100+ employees
  • Experience implementing, managing, and maintaining BlackBaud required

* An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

     ● Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Ability to move about our campus and facilities to install and maintain equipment and systems, attend meetings, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
