The Role.  Tandem Friends School, a co-ed, Quaker, 5th-12th grade independent day school in Charlottesville, Virginia seeks a knowledgeable, meticulous, and creative technology leader. This role is the lead technology engineer, support technician, and leadership liaison for the school. This role oversees the design, provisioning, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of all of the school’s technology resources and services, including but not limited to: employee and student laptops, managed network services on internet and intranet routing and security, account management, printing, VoIP, and campus-wide WiFi, LMS and SIS administration.

Knowledge of Google Suite for Education and extensive experience with LMS administration (Blackbaud K-12 preferred) is imperative as is the ability and eagerness to learn more every day.  Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Server administration is helpful but not required. This customer service oriented individual interacts with the entire school community on a daily basis, including middle and high school students, faculty and staff, and families and must handle those interactions with empathy and skill.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance, vision, and planning as a knowledgeable leader in the field of educational technology; develop multi-year school technology plan and conduct periodic reviews
  • Oversee the growth, maintenance, and function of the technology infrastructure of the school as chief engineer
  • Manage the annual technology budget, manage all technology acquisitions and develop lifecycles for hardware and software
  • Work with the various divisions and departments of the school as a partner in their technological goals
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on the changing roles and requirements in educational technology to meet emerging needs and goals
  • Help improve the collective capacity for growth of the faculty by working with division heads as a coordinator of purposeful professional growth in the realm of technology

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education and experience)
  • A history of professional growth and learning
  • Technology support and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with current network and enterprise technologies
  • Extensive SIS and LMS management experience
  • Experience in K-12 school preferred
