Department: IT Staff

Reports To: Head of School and Chief Financial Officer

 

The Director of Technology serves as the chief information officer of the school and serves on the school’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT.)  This person is ultimately responsible for all aspects of computer technology, digital communication, and electronic data storage on campus.  S/he supervises a staff of technicians, and is ultimately responsible for the functioning of technical systems on campus.  By working with administrators and teachers, this individual is responsible for perceiving the administrative and academic needs of the community and for designing technology systems that help to meet those needs efficiently and effectively.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for strategic planning related to all technology infrastructure design, budgeting, and upgrades. 
  • Supervises IT staff

 

Specific Duties:

  • Set priorities, assign duties, and evaluate computer services staff. 
  • Make strategic decisions regarding hardware and software platform. 
  • Build and manage annual budgets related to technology. 
  • Identify priorities and execute projects related to technology capital improvement. 
  • Participate as needed in the marketing of the school including admissions and alumni events. 
  • With Academic Director of Instructional Technology and Technology Integrators, coordinate training for students and staff. 
  • Manage all application development and custom programming projects. 
  • Manage all outsourced network and systems upgrade & expansion projects. 
  • Engage and manage outside vendors as needed on technology-related projects. 
  • Assists IT staff with overflow of tech support tasks and projects.

  • Ability to provide school-wide vision and leadership regarding the use of technology. 
  • Ability to kindle enthusiasm among teachers and other school leaders for the potential of technology to improve teaching and learning. 
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts
  • Strong understanding of school culture
  • Strong management skills

 

Terms of Employment:

  • 12 Months
  • Vacations and Hours as per the Employee Handbook
  • On-call for technical emergencies (shared with Systems Admin)
