Principal Responsibilities:
 

  1. To drive the ongoing development and evolution of the Schools’ technology vision and implementation in collaboration with the leadership team, various committees and key functional personnel.
  2. To work with Academic Team leaders to:
    • evaluate curriculum, pedagogy, and scheduling in the context of technology integration
    • provide/facilitate faculty technology professional development
    • provide parent education in the area of technology curriculum and pedagogy
  3. To oversee and maintain a robust and secure network infrastructure that supports the integration of technology in the academic program and also throughout all area of the Schools.  To oversee and manage the growing number and use of devices for students and employees including the Schools’ 1:1 program and other strategic initiatives.
  4. To supervise the work of the Technology Systems Administrators and Integration Specialists.  To foster close collaboration and coordination between and among Integration Specialists, Academic Team leaders, and faculty members.
  5. To collaborate with the Head of Schools and Director of Institutional Advancement in leveraging school resources to meet strategic communication goals.
  6. To provide collegial leadership by mentoring and offering technology-related workshops, training, and in-service for faculty, staff, and administration.
  7. To lead a technology committee to support the development and monitoring of the Schools’ vision for technology and its current implementation.
  8. To stay current in developments, materials, and community resources of educational technology.
  9. To participate in professional education groups in the area of curriculum and technology integration.
  10. To develop and oversee the Schools’ technology budget in coordination with the Finance Office.
  11. To oversee research, purchasing, tracking and implementation of necessary IT hardware and software. 
  12. To assist involved personnel with research and grant writing in the field of technology.
  13. To develop the use of SHS Network website (Sofie.org) and other external use of networking capabilities.
  14. Manage and develop the School Library team and introduce 21st Century library initiatives.
  15.  Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer or Head of Schools.

 Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Educational Technology or related Education degree.
  • Five to seven years experience in education environment with significant experience with technology team management and systems, along with special emphasis on integration of technology in academic programs and curricula.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work orientation, and proven performance in an education environment
  • Demonstrated personnel leadership and managerial skills in the areas of talent selection, development, performance management and matriculation.
  • Extensive experience managing IT teams, with a proven track record of providing functional and progressive value to organizations through operational analysis, planning, service excellence and project integration management
  • Strong internal and external service focus, with a commitment to teacher/parent outreach/interaction and continual service improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively elicit information and convey technology content to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong background in working with Microsoft platforms (server & workstation) and applications including the Education applications
  • Effective decision making skills, including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters concurrently.
