Sycamore School is an independent, co-educational day school serving the needs of over 400 academically gifted students in Preschool through Grade 8.  Founded in 1985, Sycamore is the only school in Indiana and one of few in the nation where the entire program is designed to meet the needs of gifted learners.  
 
The Director of Technology is a member of an eight-person administrative leadership team and reports to the Head of School.  Working closely with the Head, Technology Support Staff, and Division Heads, the Director of Technology is responsible for strategic and visionary technology planning for the school.  He/she develops policies and procedures that will best support the mission and the technology systems of the school.  Specific areas of oversight include:  technology budget development and management; development and stewardship of the Strategic technology Plan; management of all technology infrastructure and operations.  Reporting to the Director of Technology are the Technology Support Specialist and the Technology Integration Specialist. A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Technology is required.

Job Summary:  Chief administrator for all aspects of technology at Sycamore School
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Constantly researches trends and products, providing a vision and strategy for technology development
  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates the Technology Support staff
  • Develops and oversees the technology budget
  • Develops and oversees the Strategic Technology Plan
  • Manages the Blackbaud student management system and Raiser’s Edge software
  • Maintains technology infrastructure, network operations, and software applications
  • Manages technology projects and program components
  • Recommends policies, procedures, or actions in the area of technology
  • Manages remote access to Sycamore servers
  • Manages the URL and web threat appliance
  • Assesses incidents, complaints, and/or accidents related to technology
  • Manages email filtering
  • Oversees the data backup
  • Manages email communication between the school and parents
  • Manages the phones and voicemail
  • Oversees system and network security
  • Oversees purchases and installation of new equipment
  • Oversees the theater operation
  • Serves on the Crisis Committee
  • Serves on the Technology Committee
  • Oversees staff, SSA, and parent technology needs

Credentials and Experience
  • Several years experience in the computer and technology environment
  • Computer certifications preferred (Microsoft, Apple, A+, Cisco, etc.)
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Technology minimum
